How Borderly Verification Works
An overview of how Borderly allows independent verification of presence records.

Overview
Borderly is designed so that you do not have to trust Borderly (or the record holder) to verify their records. The system uses open, standard cryptographic techniques that anyone can verify independently.
What You Can Verify
- Record integrity — Confirm that no records have been added, removed, or modified after creation using the SHA-256 hash chain.
- Timestamp authenticity — Verify that RFC 3161 timestamps are genuine, issued by a recognized authority, and correspond to the claimed creation time.
- Evidence existence — Confirm that supporting evidence files exist and match their recorded hashes.
- Chain continuity — Check that the hash chain has no gaps or breaks.
No Account Needed
You do not need a Borderly account to verify records. You just need a verification token — a secure code provided by the record holder or their attorney. Enter it at borderly.day/verify to access the verification portal.
