Granting Access to Your Tax Professional

Step-by-step guide to sharing your records with your attorney, CPA, or tax advisor.

IndividualProtect tier and above

Overview

You can grant your tax professional direct, scoped access to your Borderly records. They will see your data in their professional portal and can generate reports, review evidence, and more — depending on the access level you choose.

How to Share

Follow these steps to share access:

1

Go to Settings > Sharing

Open Settings from the sidebar, then select Sharing.

2

Tap "Share with a Professional"

Start the sharing process.

3

Enter their email address

Enter the email address your tax professional uses for their Borderly account. If they do not have one yet, they will receive an invitation to sign up.

4

Choose the access level

Select Viewer (can see records and goals), Reporter (can also generate reports and view evidence), or Admin (full access including evidence management). See Understanding Access Levels for details.

5

Set optional restrictions

You can restrict access to specific jurisdictions or set an expiration date.

6

Send the invitation

Your professional receives an email notification and can accept the invitation from their portal.

Sharing is available on Protect (up to 3) and Certify (unlimited).

What Your Professional Sees

Your professional sees your data in their professional portal under their Clients list. They can view your presence records, goals, and (depending on access level) evidence and reports. They cannot change your data unless you gave them Admin access.

Every time they access your records, the access is logged in your audit trail.
